The Origins and Aims of The Company

The Queen’s players are a non-union acting company formed by English
actor/writer, Richard Mazda. The inspiration is NYC’s wonderful pool of actors and a
desire to present new work, which is normally difficult to achieve without financial
backing. The formation of the company in January 2005 is also in part a reaction to
the huge army of unsuccessful actors who form training companies or set
themselves up as self proclaimed and expensive acting coach. The city is full to
bursting with people who wish to make money from the insecurities of broke
actors.   We say that actors improve through acting.
We will act, we have already trained.
We would like to pay tribute to Al and Jay, the owners of The Creek and The Cave
at 10 – 93 Jackson Ave LIC who have provided the company with a wonderful
performance and rehearsal space at no cost. We owe these two altruistic business
guys a huge debt. Thanks. [The Creek and the Cave is a funky Mexican Grill and
Bar on two levels with a groovy lounge downstairs and performance space.
The Queen’s players will be able to mount a minimum of three productions this
year, which will afford opportunities to 25+ actors. Our first performance will take
place on February 11th @ 7.30pm Tickets $5 call 1 718 581 6477 for

monologues and duologues. Our second production, Seven Stories, will run for nine
performances in late March. This play is constructed from 13 plays by different
writers. The action all takes place on a subway platform somewhere in Queens.

Queens’s life and lives.

Richard Mazda -
Actor/Artistic Director

Richard Mazda formed the
company in January 2005. The
company has already grown to
an incredible size with more than
25 actors, 8 writers and 4
directors attached. Actors need
to act and new material has a
hard time getting produced
whether you are talking about
New York or London - these are
two facts that led to the formation
of The Queen's Players.
Following his move in September
2004 Richard has appeared as
the lead actor in rap star
Noriega's new video, filmed his
role as The Mad Scientist Nikola
Tesla in The Visionary, joined
the cast of new musical 'Hell's
Kitchen' as Butch Wollinski,
